CrackBond Application Summary

  1. Inject the CrackBond resin into the crack to wet the surfaces and make them tacky.
  2. Push dry silica sand into the crack to fill it.
  3. Thoroughly saturate the sand with CrackBond resin to fill it to the surface.
  4. In 10 to 15 minutes, scrape off the surface to make it level and use sandpaper for neat appearance.

Hairline Cracks

Hairline cracks which are too narrow for sand are filled and repaired with two passes of the CrackBond resin.

Wide Cracks

To repair wide cracks or cracks with a void underneath, first fill the crack partially with sand to prevent the CrackBond resin from running out.

Additional Sand

If additional sand is needed, use a completely DRY graded sand (no fines) or ideally, sandblasting sand with granulation like table sugar (30 to 40 grit) or similar sand without fines.

CrackBond Basement Floor Crack Repair Kit Instructions

*While it isn’t required, it is recommend that you seal the service before repairing it. For indoor uses, you want to use the Basement Self Solve Wall and Floor Sealer. For outdoor uses you want to use the Basement Self Solve Driveway and Garage Floor Sealer. This deep-penetrating sealer (up to 4″) will preserve and strengthen the concrete agains further cracking. For fine, hairline cracks it may even be the crack repair solution! Our effective, guaranteed line of sealers stop and prevent the instrusion of water, insects and radon. Again, this step is not required, just recommended.

1.OPTIONAL  For optimum performance open up the crack using a hand grinder and crack chasing diamond blade, 1/4” wide by 1/4” deep is sufficient.  Blow out or vacuum the crack to clean out any loose debris.  Oils, sealers, etc. will inhibit proper bonding of BasementSelfSolve.com CrackBond.  If you choose not to chase the crack BasementSelfSolve.com CrackBond can be ground off or scraped off after initial set, usually about 20 minutes in.

2.  Tap on the cap ( the cap looks like darth vaders helmet) 2 or 3 times with a hammer to depress cap legs into cartridge system.  This widens the orifice the cap sits in and allows for easier placement of cross over restrictor and replacement of cap.  Remove cap by hand.

3. Remove cap of cartridge, attach crossover restrictor, static mixer, and then retaining nut to cartridge. While holding application tool upward, place cartridge set into gun. Point nozzle into waste cup and squeeze trigger until air and unmixed product is expelled from the static mixer. Maintain a constant flow through the mixer while the gun is pointed in the air. Product is now ready to be applied to repair area.  Pointing the gun upward after nozzle has been attached will cause the contamination and loss of product.  Also, watch for unmixed product during the application process, it should not be placed into repair area.

4. Prime the crack with BasementSelfSolve.com CrackBond. One or two passes should suffice.  Work 10 to 15 feet at a time.

5. Fill the crack with dry silica sand or any other clean dry sand.

6. Soak sand with BasementSelfSolve.com CrackBond until saturated leaving a slight hump.  2 to 3 passes should suffice.

7. BasementSelfSolve.com CrackBond can be scraped or lightly sanded once it turns light grey and has
reached an initial cure to achieve a finished look, usually about ten minutes.  This step is essential when a topcoat of the area is to follow.

8.  Finished Product.  Epoxy coatings can be applied 30 minutes after crack repair is complete.
Note: BasementSelfSolve.com CrackBond begins to set up very quickly. If allowed to sit in the mixer for more
than a minute or two the mixer will become plugged. Unused product can be capped and
reused as long as product that has entered the mixer has not been allowed to reenter either
side of the cartridge.
